Unesa.ac.id, SURABAYA–The State University of Surabaya (UNESA) again received a working visit from Western Sydney University (WSU) on Friday, August 30, 2024. The relevant leadership including the Sub-Directorate of International Affairs welcomed the WSU delegation in the Meeting Room, Rectorate, Campus II Lidah Wetan, Surabaya.
Head of the Sub-Directorate of International Affairs of UNESA, Asrori said that this meeting discussed the follow-up of collaboration between WSUI and UNESA regarding the opening of the WSUI campus in Surabaya and the signing of the Implementation of Agreement.
On that occasion, it was also discussed the exchange of lecturers. Later, UNESA will send four lecturers to teach at the WSUI campus in Surabaya, with national courses such as Indonesian, Pancasila, citizenship, and in the future, Religion.
“Today we signed the Implementation of Arrangement, namely UNESA lecturers who will teach at WSU Surabaya, with a total of 4 lecturers,” he explained.

He added, in the future there will also be a national seminar involving the Faculty of Law UNESA and WSU. In addition, a student exchange agenda is also planned. Later, WSU students can undergo exchanges at UNESA, and vice versa.
The Chairman of the International Office also mentioned that this cooperation has been realized since the signing of the MoU several meetings ago. There is one UNESA lecturer who has taught at WSU Surabaya.
“This cooperation is only a reinforcement of the cooperation some time ago that has been realized. In this semester, there is already one lecturer who teaches at WSUI,” he said.
Involve Faculty
Even in the future, said Asrori, this collaboration will be developed and involve several faculties at UNESA such as the Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Education (FIP), and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), which will later collaborate with WSU.
He hopes that the great cooperation between these two universities will further strengthen UNESA's internationalization program and further advance both UNESA and WSU. “Hopefully, all faculties at UNESA can make good use of this collaboration to strengthen international recognition.”
Professor Amir Mahmood, a delegation member from Western Sydney University Indonesia said that this collaboration is very important in the development of quality higher education in Indonesia. He is willing to be invited and share knowledge UNESA.

“We are very happy because we are still continuing to develop the programs that have been agreed upon together and with this visit is our commitment to continue to collaborate with each other. Thank you for having us today.”
Nicolene Murdoch, from Western Sydney University, said that there will be many programmes that will be implemented in this collaboration, such as student exchanges and lecturer exchanges to ensure students have access and vice versa.
“We already had our first students, and UNESA offers 4 cultural subjects for WSU students. UNESA is a second home for us and hopes to continue to be a partner to do a lot of things together," she said.
Professor Amir Mahmood hopes that this partnership will foster innovative projects, leverage our expertise, and create new opportunities for students and faculty. “We look forward to experiencing positive results that benefit each party and the communities we serve.”
